A rare element, 'Byzanium', a vital ingredient essential for a new
nuclear deterrent is believed to be in
the holds of the Titanic - sunk on its maiden voyage to America in 1912.
Both the Americans and the Russians seek the byzanium, and whilst the Americans attempt the incredible task of raising the Titanic, the Russians standby, hoping to hijack the byzanium when it is brought to the surface.
Derek Simmonds and his team at Derann are very proud of this release, and have chosen it to 'launch' (no pun intended) the SILVER SCREEN collection.
Working from a very good master, Roy Hubbard and Rank Labs have produced one of, if not the finest 'scope prints I have seen on 8mm.
While other distributors talk about complete prints that they have the rights of and intend releasing, and yet collectors are still waiting months, sometimes years later, Derek produces the goods, and the second title in this series 'Hawk The Slayer' is being prepared at the moment, with a bit of luck, be able to include it at the convention on April 7th, we will most certainly be including a reel of 'Titanic', which though being a bit slow-paced is a much better film than I had been led to believe, and I have purchased this review print for my collection.
The print is as mentioned of the very best quality, the colour and definition being very good.
The track is recorded at a good level, and the sound is smooth, nothing nasty being done to John Barry's score.
Printed on polyester stock and supplied on 4x6OOft spools. You will have to search around a longtime to find a complete 'scope feature of this quality, and if you don't mind a film that builds gradually to spectacular climax then this film can be recommended.
A 4 reel version is available, concentrating mainly on the raising of the Titanic, with just enough of the plot to carry it through. The print quality, though not as fine as the feature, is still very good.

Not a successful film at the cinema, I never saw it there. The first time was at Blackpool convention Gables Hotel. Projected on to Tony Shappes massive screen it was very impressive. At the time I would say one of best quality releases available.
I have it on laserdisc, but the big screen is the only way to see it.
